Order ButtonJust as we need a balanced diet to maintain good health and wellbeing, so do honeybees.  In fact, the productivity and lifespan of honeybees can be directly related to what they eat from the moment they hatch as larvae and throughout their brief lifespan. As a commercial or a hobbyist beekeeper, we all want our honeybees to be healthy and productive which is why we feed our honeybees Custom Bee Feed.  Customer Bee Feed is an Australian formulated product which

Build Healthy bees with Custom Bee Feed

Custom Bee Feed is made in Australia by Australian beekeepers for an Australian climate. Every batch of Custom Bee Feed is customised to ensure the bees are getting the best possible balance of vitamins, minerals and amino acids which are designed to promote healthy honeybees that will thrive even in the harshest of conditions.

Originally developed as a full pollen replacement, it also works exceptionally well in conjunction with natural pollen. This is because nearly all of Australia’s pollen producing flora are deficient in some form of nutrition and don’t meet a honey bee’s basic nutritional requirements. Supplementary feeding allows honey bees to make the most of natural pollen when it is available and maintain strong brood nests when there is no natural pollen available. Customer Bee Feed delivers an optimal balance of crude protein, vitamins, minerals and amino acids to achieve far superior results to feeding straight pollen…

What’s in it?

Our Experience

Our own experience with Custom Bee Feed began in the Winter of 2017 with our bees located on the Ironbark in central NSW. Ironbark is known for its ability to produce copious amounts of nectar but zero pollen. Therefore, colonies that have been foraging on Ironbark through winter often arrive into Spring diminished and struggle to recover. We implemented a feeding regime which involved fortnightly communal feeding of Custom Bee Feed. Our bees quickly located and consumed the feed as if it was natural pollen. As shown in the following video, the foragers visited the feeder in large numbers and transported the feed back to their hives on their hind legs in the same manner they would natural pollen.

Not only did our honeybees launch into Spring as healthy and productive colonies, they maintained strong bubbling colonies and produced a significant quantity if Ironbark honey. One very important observation we made is that the bees were able to maintains strong and healthy colonies with a very small brood nest. We believe this was due to an increased lifespan of the worker bees. This reduced the load on the queen bee because she did not have to lay large numbers of eggs to maintain the colonies population.
